Hi, I was in the middle of playing a not very demanding game for a bit (Civilization 5) until all of a sudden my screen went completely black. My PC was still on but the light for the hard drive wasn't on either. So I tried to restart it and my PC got to the part where it said "Starting Windows" with the Windows logo (I'm on Windows 7 by the way) and then after that it just goes black screen and nothing happens (the hard drive light is also off when the screen is black). I've got no idea why this would happen. As for my parts, my processor is fairly old and has been through a lot it's an AMD Phenom II X4 940, my card is much newer it's a Radeon R9 270x 4 gb, my motherboard is the M3A79-T Deluxe mobo and my ram/memory is 16 gb ddr2. Now, safe mode with Windows DOES work so I don't think it's a hard drive issue. I also tried to boot my PC from my USB that has Linux on it and all I got on my screen were just purple lines and no interface (although I think that's just the USB since something similar happened on a different PC). Later on I can try the USB on a different computer just to be sure. Anyone know the issue or know any way to fix it? If a component is dead, which one would it be so I could know what to swap? Any help would truly be appreciated. Thanks.

Had a question a bit back that sounded similar to your problem, the answer then was faulty RAM. Try booting to windows with one stick then the other, and failing that try the different slots for the RAM in the motherboard.
Edit: Now I remember... Hang tight... It was a faulty RAM slot on the motherboard. That's what it was.
