Xbox 360 controller reconnects whenever I turn on/off certain appliances

I have a wired X360 controller plugged into my PC. Whenever I turn on/off either of the light switches, or attach certain appliances to my multiplug, the controller disconnects and reconnects. I have four wall plugs, one for the multiplug, one for the PC, one for my headphones and one for the PC. This problem is caused by my mini fridge or desk lamp (just in the multiplug, not in the wall plug) or light switch switching on/off, but not by my battery charger, toothbrush charger or phone charger.

Generally this isn't a problem as I'm not turning any of these on/off while I'm playing, but my fridge switches its motor on and off by an automatic timer, so to prevent this, I'd have to unplug my fridge (as I can't plug it into the wall) which I'd rather not do as I keep some meat and drinks in there. What is likely to be causing the problem where appliances or light switches turning on/off would affect my PC which would in turn affect my controller?

Sounds like you have too many things plugged into on outlet? The fridge should probably get its own outlet that is maybe even on a completely different circuit than your PC. Also, do you use a surge protector?
