Hi, I'll will be getting a GTX 780ti from my friend, and i notice 780ti requires 250w (250w/12v= 20.3 amps). But my PSU (FSP AURUM CM 550W) only got 4 +12V with 18A each, is my psu enough for the card?

my specs:
CPU - i5-4460
RAM - 8GB
HDD - 1TB X 3
PSU - FSP AURUM CM 550W

With virtually any power supply this should not be a problem. The rails should be distributed among the individual lines going to the video card. So that no one trace is being drawn on exclusively by the GPU.

This post is a great explanation of what PSU rails are, how they are distributed and why this has not been a problem for quite a while now. Also that multiple rails is just a means of dividing up the measure of power draw. In the hopes of minimizing the effects of a short circuit.

You really playing with fire here. As stated GTX 780Ti require 600W psu minimum, but we all know Nvidia always exaggerated the number a bit to leave safe margin. Considering your fsp 550W has gold certificate on it, and your i5 is a non K model, It should suffice as long as you do not overclock your GTX 780Ti.

It should run but do it at your own risk since a psu might degraded overtime. When you experiencing dropped fps or restart while playing, then you better stop.

a 780 ti needs a psu with at least 42 amps on the 12v

that power supply is not good enough
