i just bought the msi pro carbon today...i was going to go with fry special of i5-7600k and asus z270 tuf mark 2....when i saw the amd box sitting at frys(they only got one in), i grabbed it....its going to cost me more in the long run, but i have one intel rig allready...i have not cpu yet, but will probably grab the x1700 ryzen....people talk down ryzen in gaming, but this is going to run a 4k screen, and ryzen reall y shines at 4k.......anyone have this board yet?

CPU usage is lower at 4K as games become more GPU bound at higher resolutions.

RYZEN beats Intel in multitasking whilst gaming (streaming/recording+playing games), however the i7-7700k beats RYZEN in gaming only.

If you have a 60-75Hz monitor you won't notice the difference between RYZEN and Intel Kaby Lake.

Frame rates are close because the performance depends a lot more on the GPU at 4K. The performance you're seeing at 4k is mostly the power produced by for example the GTX 1080 Ti, CPU does not change the results signficantly at this resolution.

RYZEN 7 is not entry-level, It's AMD's highest-end offering. The difference in performance between even the 1700 and 1800X is pretty minor. They're all 8C/16T SMT processors.

RYZEN 5 will release soon (April 11th) with 6C/12T for 220-250 dollars. This will be intended for gaming more.
