depends on what kind of ram it is. they have Ripjaws V series ram for both DDR3 and DDR4 types of ram and the z270 boards only support DDR4

it should work, but to be safe make sure its a speed you motherboard supports although if the ram is rated faster then your motherboard supports it will just downclock it. for example, if your motherboard has a H170 chipset then it with only support DDR4 ram at a speed of 2133mhz.
