Overclocked too hard and Performance problems

So I recently got an Asus Strix 1080 OC edition and was wanting to overclock it. I downloaded Evga Precision X and accidentally put 1000mhz boost instead of 100 then my pc crashed. Luckily I didn't have it on startup so everything reverted back to normal. The problem is that when I went along with my day and started playing some games, there was a pretty big performance drop.

Battlefield 4 at ultra would get me around 200fps before but now it hovers around 140fps and at high it would be a solid 200 but now its a very unstable 190. Also games like Fallout New Vegas and Cod World at War have serious texture and object pop ins that I have never noticed before.

I've been trying to fix this but it seems like there's nothing else I can do. Im almost out of hope. Any solutions?

Maybe try uninstalling Precision x and try with MSI Afterburner or reinstalling Precision X.

Never encountered anything like this before.

Is there an overclock applied at the moment while playing the games?

No there is no overclock applied. Its running at the speed that it came with out of the box. I have msi afterburner downloaded but I haven't touched it yet.

Are your temperatures fine? Is your computer screen sometimes having random freeze/lockups/artifacting during gameplay?
Such unstable performance is due to thermal throttling or lack of voltage to sustain the overclock.
Just reset your GPU to default. Your GTX 1080 is already pre overclocked at the factory and has very little overclocking / thermal headroom left. Leave it at "stock" speeds.
Maybe you will see better improvements in CPU overclocking at such high framerates.

Yes my temps are fine, 55c during game play and around 35c idle. I have been experiencing artifacting which you can kinda see at the end of the game play. How would I go about setting my GPU to default? Should I use Asus GPU tweak or should I just use msi afterburner? Also, I have my CPU, which is a i5 6600k, overclocked to 4.2ghz.

Update: I downloaded gpu tweak 2 and set my clocks to the default ones and there was no difference. Same fps and texture problems. I dont think this is a problem with my gpu. This is actually my 2nd 1080 because my first one I had to RMA since it would play the game for like 5 minutes then the screen would start flashing colors and then crash. This is whats happening but now its affecting my frames. I highly doubt I would of got 2 defective gpu's.
