Prime95 Slower times on 5 and 8 threads

Trying to figure out what would cause certain threads while running prime95 to run much slower.. everything was running smooth while benchmarking until I got to the 5 threads then response times were drastically slower.. 6 and 7 threads timed the best then on the 8th thread it locked up the pc.. according to the asus temp monitor the cpu was only at 55C and dropping the more threads it ran

What about voltage regulators? Do you have an AIO liquid cooler on the CPU? My guess is the motherboard is overheating with the overclock ...
