Are there dual-band cards to replace the AR9485 in an HP 2000-2b09wm laptop? Does this laptop support dual-band? I've searched the HP support site and can't find that information or a list of replacement cards. I just upgraded my internet speed and can't get what I'm paying for. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Okay, I just found the tech manual with the list of parts. All the Pci-e wireless cards listed are 1x1. I need to find out if the laptop will even support a 2x2 card. The laptop is no longer under warranty so HP wants to charge me for help over the phone. Also, if I need to, where would I find out how to change my bios so whatever card I eventually find and use will not be locked out? Thanks.

what speed are you trying to get?

and yes some laptops have a whitelist of wifi cards

if it has a whitelist and your cards not on it then you would need to find a modified bios

or vaguely recall using a bootable cd on old ibm t4* series laptops to remove the whitelist

though whether you could even find something like that for your hp i have no idea

I get about 29 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up on my phone but only around 10 Mbps down and 1.5 Mbps up on the laptop.

How do I find out what cards are on the whitelist if there is one?

guess the hp forums would be the best place to find out if theres a whitelist

10Mbs does seem pretty slow for the card in the laptop must admit thought it would do higher than that

would using a usb wifi be an option for you?

as think that would be easier than trying to find which card the laptop will accept that will give better speed
