Hello I have hp manufactured pavilion g6. It came with pre-installed 3 partitions: one is the c (user storage), one is recovery, and one hp tools.

Is there a way I can copy the recovery partition ( about 20 gigs) and keep it on an external hdd ( as an emergency)
And then merge all the partitions into one?

Thanks

Solution
look in programs/hp

for the software to make recovery dvds

and something like macrium reflect free version to image or clone the recovery partition as well as making dvds

making dvds/copy of recovery partition is always a good idea

my opinion deleting the partitions to gain 30gb when you have plenty space any way

not such a good idea

you risk making it unbootable and having to test those dvds immediately

which is good in one way since you will know if they actually work

back up anything important before you do anything to the partitions would be my advice
it should come with software on it to make your own factory recovery dvds

yes there are other ways but messing with the partition set up could possibly leave it not booting

if its a reasonably modern pc/laptop should be plenty hard drive space

so why would you want to do it?

What OS is on it?
How large is the drive?

The Recovery partition might be able to be written to DVD or USB. This is in case of the actual drive dying.
Look in the user manual to see if you can do that.

Right.
There should be a function for you to create an offline copy of that recovery partition.
Look in the user manual for how to invoke this.
