I just got a new computer,

The only thing dxdiag sees is the Intel 630.

The computer has a GTX 1080, but when I try to install the drivers Nvida says it can't find any NVIDA devices. I flew from Cali to Ohio to pick this thing up. If I can't figure it out before my flight tomorrow I'll have to check all the shipping boxes in case I have to RMA.

I tried installing both the 64 and 32 bit Windows 10 drivers. Nvida says there's nothing there.

Please help.

Thank you in advace

Navigate to Device manager and check try to update manually.

or

Download DDU:

https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/550192/geforce-drivers/display-driver-uninstaller-v5-0/

Start DDU and choose SafeMode.
When rebooted into safemode:
Choose Clean and restart if you already replaced card.
Choose Clean and shutdown if you not replaced yet, let it shutdown and change cards.

Then install 1080 driver when rebooted into normal windows again :>
Download driver manual:

So when I clicked "show hidden devices" the GTX 1080 shows up, but it's transparent, and when I hit "update drivers" Windows says the drivers are up to date. Do you think if I disable the Intel 630 it will revert to the 1080

Update: Looking more closely the device driver says,

Currently this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code45)

To fix this problem reconnect this hardware device to the computer.

I went through New Egg, and they got it from Xotic PC's.

I'm going to have to pack it up and take it back to Cali preparing for an RMA. I paid 3k for this thing.

I tried disabling the Intel 630, and restarting it. But the computer seems to think the GPU was once installed but now is not. I think I can see it through the vents, but I'm positive. I can't hear the fans. It shouldn't be this quiet.

I did get 4K video to play on it, though. Can the Intel 630 do 4K?

You know what I think?

This isn't going to make me look any smarter, but I haven't had the chance to fully charge this battery. I bet this thing kicked into a power saving and turned off that 1080. I had it plugged in, though.

I'll charge it over night and see.

Well, that idea didn't work.

I also reset the computer twice.
Now, when I click, "show hidden devices" the 1080 doesn't show up. The card probably fell the first load I put on it. Well, if you're stupid enough to spend that much money on a machine that's what you deserve.

I'm hoping that the company will schedule a Geek Squad (or similar service) repair so I don't have to RMA. This is the second consecutive Top Tier Nvida card I've gotten DOA. I know everyone loves them, but I've never had an issues with Radeon. I could throw them under the coach for two years, dust them off throw in.

If the thing was refurbished they snuck it by me well. I wouldn't pay this kind of money for a used machine. It may have been damaged in shipping. Who knows how much those Fed Ex guys throw things around.

I'm a day late on posting my solution. But I didn't want to jinx myself.

First off, I have to say that the guys at Xotic PC are some of the most competent techs I've ever spoken to. They know computers and know how to troubleshoot them. They also don't have any wait times -probably the best tech support I've ever received.

I had to download the SCM (System control manager) from MSI. Than there's is a GPU button beside the keyboard (in black font) that is nearly impossible to distinguish from the back surface. After you download the SCM--RESTART--Hit the GPU button--restart once more--the device manager finds the 1080.

I wish I could say that was the end of the ordeal. After I got off the phone with those guys I tried to install the drivers. I spent 12 hours in my seat running Nvida's utility over and over again. Long story made shorter, I eventually got down on my knees and prayed and was able to get ver 378.92 to install.

For whatever reason, the guys at Xotic said the drivers from Nvida's site don't install on this machine, you have to get them from the MSI site. IDK. So I'm using older drivers. I'll live with it for now.

Thanks to everyone for helping. If anyone's interested, I'm going to post some performance reviews/questions on what the 1080 w/ the 7820 HK can do under a 4k load.
