Creating a bootable hard drive.

Hello! I have 2 computers a friends and mine. My PC works perfectly however my friends PC has no OS and no CD drive. can i put his HDD in my PC and create a bootable HDD using an OS such as Linux and then put the hard drive back in his PC? Or any easier solutions would be greatly appreciated

Solution
Much easier solution:

1) Download a linux distro with a live USB support on your PC.
2) Write the ISO file into a flash drive using pen drive linux (https://www.pendrivelinux.com/).
3) Use this bootable flash drive on your friends PC to boot up and then install the OS

This will not work but the other guys have great ideas that will work.
 

If you move the drive just after copying phase (this used to be first reboot on XP/7), and then continue on the target, you'll be OK. Drivers do not play during copying.
