i7 930 @ stock 2.8.
asrock x58 extreme 3
sapphire r9 270x 4 gb
12 gb ddr3 1600 corsair lpx
128 gb ssd samsung evo(1 tb harddrive)
700 watt powersupply coolermaster

first of al i want to say that i did not have any problems with my system before i installed the latest drivers.

after i installed the latest drivers i rebooted my system and after the windows logo i just got stuck on a black screen...
i tied a lot of thing but i opted to just reinstall windows and all window updates. after the instalation i booted up and the system started just fine but it looked laggy so i checked my drivers and now it says i have a standard VGA adapter??

i downloaded the drivers , installed them ... rebooted and.. the problem was back.. went to safe mode deleted the drivers and my system booted right up again but again only VGA adapter... tried everything i could think of.. reinstalles bois... not working.. other ssd... not working.. normal hd drive... not working.. other memmory... not working.. older drivers not working anymore... what can i do im soo lost right now it looks to me that the latest drivers amd provide dont like windows 7(Crimson ReLive Edition 17.2.1) please help

go back to the know working driver you were using ? just because it a new driver don't make it a better driver .
may need to try a older driver ? if you try a couple older drivers and get the same results maybe something else like your card just failed under a driver that puts the card in it full power states or maybe the cards power from the psu is failing ??

then try the card in a buddies gaming rig to see if it behaves the same in another known working system . if it works as expected then may not be the card if you get the same issues then maybe the card is failing ??

''and now it says i have a standard VGA adapter??'' that's correct that's the built in to windows ''safe'' mode generic fail safe driver ...

This seems to be an ongoing problem. Here’s my take on it...
Since a new driver release namely adrenalin thousands of cards are not working. I myself had had 4 cards bricked by the drivers, although you will find the minority few which will say gpus can’t last forever blah blah blah.

Since the drivers I get a black screen on 4 cards which worked perfectly BEFORE the update, and the repair and diagnostics say “thread stuck in device driver”
I have tried dban then reinstall windows and download previous drivers that used to work. BUT now show the same symptoms.

I have started to think that the new drivers in adrenalin have also changed the gpu bios to brick the gpu, I will follow up on this thread when I conclude this theory.
This is not an accusation, merely a notion as to why 4 of my cards r9 390x nitro that are just out of warranty are now bricked after updating drivers, but the other 3 rx580 still under warranty have not. 4 cards that worked perfect all bricked after updates hmmmm... not amd doing this, as gpu wear out all the time. Come on seriously!

All over the internet there are thousands and thousands of people with the same problem after drivers, what’s the answer from amd.... no comment at all just silence on matter

But I am sure if I contact them they will be like we are sorry about your cards ‘breaking to older age’ and as a token of good faith here is a discount code off our Vega range so you don’t feel like we pulled your pants down to force sales.

I have used amd products for over 10 years, but when your cards get bricked with expectations of influx of new sales, means sell of my Radeon cards and hello intel, you just got a new system builder and eth mining customer
