Right, so I'm looking at getting a 2nd GPU. However, I've been told that the this persons GPU seems to cause their PC to go to a black screen after 'a while'.

I'm looking for suggestions as to what it may be..

I'm thinking it's their PSU not being able to power it properly or perhaps the GPU is overheating. I can't get more info from the person as if I point out a possible issue then their price may go up as they sort the issue haha.

Well that person's GPU is certainly not overheating, it's probably a software issue with his drivers. The gpu that you're looking for, whichever one it is, it'll work. Only thing is, if you want to use 2 GPU's in one rig you need to check some things.

It has to be the same one as the 1st GPU that you have. That and your motherboard has to support Nvidia SLI or AMD Crossfire depending on what GPU you're buying. You can't just mix and match GPU's.

Yeah, Both are the same GTX 970's same manufacturer, model, clock speeds etc. I'll buy it and see then I guess. Hopefully it is something simple that they haven't realised or missed.

GTX 970:s in SLI shouldn't be a problem when your motherboard supports that. make sure you check that!
Your friend's issue has nothing to do with the 970 in general..
