First, specs.
Z270-E
6700k
GTX 1060 (Was a Titan XP, now waiting for my GTX 1080 Ti)
and last, Hyper X Fury 16GB (2x8GB) 2400Mhz kit x2

So my PC was running fine with 4 of those hyper x ram sticks, before when the titan was still there. Now when I use my backup card (GTX 1060) and my pc keeps crashing with 4 of the ram sticks. Until I removed 2 of them and my PC ran fine. What's the problem? Is it my gpu?

Solution

I have no explanation.
One possibility would have to do with the difference in vram.
With the titan, you have 12gb so the drivers would rarely need to exchange vram for system ram.
On a GTX1060, you have 3 or 6gb, and it is likely that some games will need extra vram and need to exchange with system ram.

Titan XP looks to me to be comparable in performance to the GTX1080ti; why the change?
I can not explain why a gpu change should cause a problem.
Perhaps you nudged a stick out of place during the install.

Past that.

Ram is sold in kits for a reason.
A motherboard must manage all the ram using the same specs of voltage, cas and speed.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards can be very sensitive to this.
This is more difficult when 4 sticks are involved.
That is why ram vendors will NOT support ram that is not bought in one kit.

My suggestion is to up the ram voltage in the bios a bit.
Test the ram with memtest86+.
You should get NO errors for a full cycle.
