Before I start off, sorry if this is an easy fix, I'm not that good with computers. I recently bought a CAT-6 Ethernet cable and connected my laptop to my router with the cable, expecting faster down and up speeds or at least more reliable ping in a game. When I did a speedtest, nothing changed, and when I played a game, my ping still spiked because my family was using the internet. Any help? Is the CAT-6 cable not good for speeds or something like that?
Ethernet Cable the same as Wireless?

Cat6 is a perfectly fine high rated cable. Wired is generally always better than wireless but a few factors play into that such as the wireless speeds offered by your wireless access point, wireless capabilities offered by your NIC in the machine you are using, distance from the WAP, and materials between you and the WAP. similarly in a wired network connection if you are only getting 75mbs from your isp and you have a gigabit ethernet nic and cat6 cable plugged into a gigabit ethernet port on the switch portion of the device provided for your isp you will still never get over 75mbs (within +- margin of error)
While ethernet cable is much more reliable compared to wireless, if your internet connection is bad, nothing can help it. You should be using ethernet if your computer is stationary and don't more around much, but if you live in place where wifi networks are rare and your house have good coverage, then there is no real speed advantage unless you have fiber internet.
