Hi there.

I went out yesterday, and when I came back my computer was totally unresponsive. I have replaced the PSU, but still limited success.

Through a process of trial and error I have identified that some of the system fan/cpu fan headers are not working for either of the PSU or the CPU. When I do finally get a working header for the CPU, it will spin for maybe 3-4 seconds, then proceed to stop. The PSU fan will spin for maybe 10 seconds, then it will stop.

I have inserted a MOBO internal speaker, and it is a series of short, continous beeps that continue for a period of about 10-12 seconds, then stop; then start up again.

My graphics card fan is happily spinning away.

My mother board is a Gigabyte Z77X D3H which is about 4 years old.

Can anyone please advise me as to what is going wrong? I can upload an audio file of the beeps if that is of any use.

The motherboard can't proceed without reliable access to RAM so it's not surprising that nothing else works. The BIOS isn't completing its system self test so its playing the beeps to tell you what is wrong and then shutting down.

At this point it could be the PSU, mobo, CPU, and/or RAM. If you don't have another computer to test the components I advise taking it to a shop to diagnose it further.

It seems like it should last longer than 4 years unless you've been stressing it severely and/or have cheap parts.
The first thing to try is to reset the BIOS to factory defaults. See the following link:
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/437978/Gigabyte-Ga-Z77x-D3h.html?page=31

Here is a link to the beep codes. Count them. If the count goes over the highest count listed then it is probably the "memory not properly installed" code. If that's the case remove and re-install each memory module one at a time to try to locate the bad one. If they all fail it might be a bad motherboard or it might just need cleaning. Try to clean it first before you start looking for another mobo.

Yes, the cmos didnt work, and both memory modules elicited the beeping

My keyboard, ethernet cable and mouse are all unresponsive and produce new light when connected to my computer either (and even when the computer is turned on via the PSU).
