I need to build my mom a new PC as her 10+ year old Dell is having issues, one of them being the HDD. No games are played, some youtube / skype use, and it's mostly for browsing purposes. I'm based in the US.

I'd like to get her an SSD in this build but, will I be able to transfer all her old stuff from her HDD onto the SSD?

Also, I'm not looking for a mini ITX build or anything but, something with a somewhat 'small footprint' would be appreciated.

No OS needed
No Keyboard / mouse needed
No Monitor needed
No dedicated GPU needed (on-board should be sufficient)

Thanks!

What would your budget be? There's a lot that can be changed about this depending on budget or specific needs. Just something to start with.

Thanks

She mostly uses it to browse the net and to use Skype to talk with family. It really is just a generic use PC, but I wanted to make sure I got something that was decently responsive and stable. My dad uses his computer more for business related stuff and, all in all, if this build works out well for her, I might use the same build for him as well. There is no specific budget but, because of the type of use the computer will get, I'm not looking for anything out of this world.

Ah, makes sense. What do you think of the list I presented? Too much, too little?

I don't know much about the parts, but the price is fine for me. Thanks again for the help

Do you live in the US? How about the Pentium G4600? Roughly the same price with slightly better clock speed and internal graphics.

As for the PSU: is the Rosewill PHOTON 550w available? I'm trying to look for Fully modular PSU's which really helps with cable management.

Yep, just make sure that it's a decent quality PSU, since you do not have that heavy of a build, you don't need a super high quality PSU, and the power requirement isn't as high for your build. Around 450w-500w is more than enough for you. I would make sure that the PSU is rated at least 80+ Bronze for quality sake though.

Here is a PSU Tier List if you would like to take a look. It gives a good overview of what you should be looking for in power supplies.
