Hey guys, im looking to build my first PC, and have managed to research a rough plan as to what parts i need.
Im after a mid range gaming PC, with optimal cost to performace in mind, keeping within a budget of around $1500 AUD
As i am new to custom building PCs, im not 100% sure whether the parts i have chosen are compatible, or optimal.

The parts i have chosen are as follows:
GPU: GTX 1060
CPU: i5-7500
Motherboard: MSI-Z270 SLI Plus
Storage: Plextor M8Pe 512 Gb
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4
Case: Coolermaster master box 5
Power: Not sure
Extras: Not sure

its worth noting that in addition to gaming, it will be used for university work.

Any suggestions on either optimising performance, compatibility or lowering price will be much appreciated. Thanks

I would suggest going with a lesser Motherboard since you won't be overclocking that i5-7500. Something like the B250 chipset. This might save you ~$75.

I would go with 16gb of RAM if you can, just a little bit of futureproofing.

On the Power Supply; you could get away with a 500w model. but go with a 600w just to be sure. Make sure to get it from a reputable brand (EVGA, Corsair, SilverStone, etc.)

Maybe go for a 256 gb SSD and a 1 or 2 tb HHD. or even a 1tb Hybrid drive. 512 gb goes by real quick.

And for the sake of your ears and CPU; get an aftermarket cooler. Cryorig C7 is a great low-profile cooler. But other brands like Noctua and Cooler Master are great too.

To check for compatibility, just plug all of your parts in to a system build on PCPartPicker.com - Super intuitive and with a built-in compatibility filter and estimated Wattage.
