so, im the the process of upgrading my EVGA gtx 770. the card runs really hot to the point that i started sweating a little bit. moving my pc to a different spot is not an option, i even replace the thermal paste on my gpu thinking it was the problem but it didnt really help. So, of all the gpu thats out in the market. what should i buy that wont break the bank. i only play games such as LoL, CSGO and overwatch. budget would be around $250. im considering of getting the RX 480 8gb. or even the rx 470 or maybe the gtx line. by doing that will it decrease the amount of heat my pc puts out. thanks for the help

It sounds like this isn't a situation where the GPU is overheating. Instead it sounds like the room he plays games in is getting too hot because the PC is doing a good job of pushing the heat out of the case.

I have this problem in my home office during the summer too. The PC performance was great while gaming and my parts weren't overheating but it was uncomfortable to play games because I would get hot just from being in the same room as my PC. This is part of the reason I switched from SLI 970s to a 1070 even though my performance was fine at 1440p.

If you are trying to reduce temperatures in the room you want the card with the lowest TDP that will still give you acceptable performance in the games you play. The less wattage the...
When in use, GPUs are meant to get hot. As long as they do not overheat (which, for your 770, is 98C: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-770/specifications), they are perfectly fine. Buy a new GPU if you want to, but if your concern are temps, be aware that whatever GPU you buy, it will get hot (around 80C too).

If you're sure it's the card that's getting too hot, show some temps maybe? GPU's are supposed to get pretty hot. But a good budget GPU is a GTX 1050 Ti, for about $150 but if you want to push your budget to the max go for a GTX 1060 which is about $250 depending on what make it is.

If heat is the main concern I would consider the 1050 Ti. It won't really be an upgrade in terms of performance from your 770. It's hard to find good comparison benchmarks because of the age difference between the two cards but it seems like the performance is pretty similar.

The reason I recommend the 1050 Ti is because it should give you similar performance to your 770 while having a TDP of 75W. For comparison the 770 has a TDP of 230W.

If you want an actual performance upgrade while still reducing heat the 1060 has a TDP of 120W and the RX 480 has a TDP of 150W. These both outperform your 770 while using less power and putting out less heat. The heat difference won't be as big as it would be with a 1050 Ti though.

I have the dame problem with my gpu gtx 770 windforce 3x 2gb. Stock with no msi fan changed. I was getting 75-77 c on full load. And then i changed the termal compound. To a cheap one. And the gpu run even hotter. Like 80-82 c on full load warch dogs 1. Then i whent to a pc shop and bought a mx 4 termal compound. And with a little fan adjust form msi afterburner. With no oc. Just stock clock at 1145. It stays at full load at max 65 c !!!! Over 15c difference. So to point is. Dont buy crappy termal compound. Just buy the best in bussines. Now i.m to happy with my temps
