Core 2 quad Q9550 vs i5-2400 which is better?

Hi there after a long time,
I don't do much gaming but I am trying to upgrade my PC to

GTX 750 Ti
8GB ram
and X CPU
where X is the cpu I have to decide.i
and I think it will be a good budget gaming pc to play games like GTAV,IV , the crew, call of duty series and Watch dogs if possible.
I know that you all will prefer i5 because of 50% more power only
Well in my opinion Core 2 quad is a better option. why? Here are the reasons:-
In out country India Core 2 quad is available for just about 3000 rupees (approx 46 dollars) where core i5 is for 7000 rupees (approx 108 dollars) about 2.5 times more in price where as the performance is only 50% more than the core 2 quad.

Secondly, i5 and C2Q are very different and fit in very different sockets, so if i'll go for i5 i'll need to change my motherboard as well to an expensive h61 case.

Thirdly,I love core 2 quad series because they were one of the most powerful processor back in 2008 lovely days and it will be good thing to feel proud on and to make others jealous.

Both are not future proof but spending half on an old legend q9500 is better than wasting twice on a non future proof i5 that can't even give at least 100% more performance.

what are your views please let me know.

So please tell me which is better option please please

i5 is a lot better, because even a 2400 can make you playable in most games

and also because it means you can upgrade to a better processor later as a lot of h61 mobos are compatible with a i7 3770 after a bios update

  2. Why select such a weak GPU? The i5 is the best better deal, but with that GPU you may never need the extra power. Unless budget is an issue, get a better GPU and the i5. If budget is an issue and you already have the Q95** CPU mother board, then just get the Q95** since it would be paired with the GTX 750.

You need to balance the CPU and GPU based on the games you will play. Some games need more CPU power (BF1, Rainbow6).

  3. well I'm thinking to increase my budget, I'm going with the gtx 1060 or 1050 ti instead of 750ti. For the processor I've come to a confusion between i5 2400 and fx 6300 I can get both of them from ebay at the same prices but for confirmation I compared both of them in gamedebate.com and got really surprising results. So my question is why the fucking i5 is even a bit better than the fx 6300 which has 6 processing cores with more l2 and l3 cache?

  4. because the architecture of the i5 is better than the fx6300, you cant really compare them either. both should be fine tho with the gtx 1050ti for example, the i5 has a better upgrade path, you can for example get an i7 3770 eventually which is still today a very good cpu and will be for another few years. So personally I would go for the i5 2400.

i5 2400 is not a bit better, it is a lot better than a 6300

because 4 strong cores are better than 6 weak cores

  6. Yes the i5 is a lot more powerful for games and if you get a version that ends with a "K" you can overclock if need by 800MHz+ just by changing one setting in the BIOS. For the past few years all of the Intel chips have been a lot faster than AMD.
