I need help with choosing DDR2 or DDR3 RAM.
My current motherboard is DDR2 RAM, and i want to use that motherboard because it saves money.
Yes, the cpu i want is a Q6600 which is compatible
But, i fear that the DDR3 vs DDR2 will affect performance ALOT.
What im building is:
Q6600
GTX 750 Ti/660 Ti
8GB DDR3/2

Solution
There is performance gain by going DDR3.
DDR2 mobo will not support DDR3 RAM.
Keep your DDR2 mobo.

BTW. Q6600 can only best matched max roughly with GTX750Ti, since Q6600 is quite an old processor, which will bottleneck any GPUs better than GTX750Ti.

Also the Q6600 is a very old processor designed when there was only DDR2. There are later generations of LGA 775 boards that support both the Q6600 and DDR3 but there is no performance gain.
