Today I replaced my GTX 650 with a 1060, and in addition to that I installed two extra fans, stacked on a free 4-pin connector. After reinstalling the drivers and everything, I fired up Elite Dangerous in Ultra settings. Everything worked super well, but 10-15 minutes into my session, my computer shut off and restarted by itself. I did a quick rundown on all the connections, checked that nothing was hot (it wasn't) and in case the issue was that I was overloading the PSU, I shut off two of the fans, as well as lowering the details on ED to "high". However, 10-15 minutes into my game, it shut off again.

If I had to hazard a guess I'd say it's my power supply (it's a kinda offbrand 750W that so far has worked flawlessly, and in addition to that it's just half a year old), but I would like to know your opinions on the matter.

Here's my full specs:

i7 3770
GTX 1060
8 gig ram
Gigabyte GA-H77M-D3H
LL-PS-750-80+ PSU

Your PSU can save your PC from the best to the worst.

It's the line of defense between your pc parts and bad electricity.Dont compromise with the PSU.Personally I would think 10times before even starting that PC if I were you without a good brand 500W(or more) PSU

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. However, I checked with a buddy of mine and he advised me to underclock the GPU by 5-10%, while increasing the power limit by 5 %. Something something clean power requirement while in high performance, or something. So far, haven't had any further shutdowns with ED.

I'll keep trying out games and if things get really hairy I'll get a more reliable PSU, but for the moment this seems to do the trick. If I can hold up with this PSU for a while longer it'll be good enough.
