Hello,

I built a computer back in 2012 and thinking of upgrading it. What are somethings worth upgrading? This is what I have in it now
CPU- i5-3570k quad core
CPU cooler- Cosair H100
Motherboard- Gigabyte GA-z77x UD3H
Memory- Corsair Vengeance 16gb (2x 8gb)
Storage-2TB 3.5 5400Rpm internal HD
Storage- intel 520 180gb ssd
GPU- Raeon HD 7970 GHz edition 3Gb
Power supply- Silencer Mk 2 950w
optical drive- Lite-on ihas124-04 DVD/CD writer

Solution

If you upgrade the graphics, a GTX1070 would be appropriate, about $400.

If you upgrade the cpu, you are looking at a new motherboard and ram.
I5-7600K is about $230.
$150 buys you a Z270 motherboard.
2 x8gb of DDR4 ram will be about $70.
What is the main use of this pc?
In what way is it not doing the job?

You have a well balanced pc.
My guess is that for gaming, a graphics card upgrade is in order.

Or, if you actively read/write from a 5400rpm hard drive, you might want to invest in a larger ssd.

I try to play games on max setting. The system is getting old and was just looking to upgrade. It seems to run everything pretty good now on high setting. I usually play civ 6, wow, witcher 3, and games like that.
