Can I put my gpu upside down?

So I'm planning to buy a new gpu but I'm limited to singe slot gpus only. My current gpu is located on the upper part, the fan is facing upward and a little space on top of it. I'm wondering if i can buy a gpu that is dual slot, but if i do that, i will place it upside down because i have lots of space beneath it.

I have an acer aspire x3950. It's case is slim line or small form factor. It's mobo is just stock sir. I guess i just have to stick with gt 730 since it's 1 slot only
