Is it okay to have my radiator really close to my video card?

Hey guys,
So I'm using an Asus Maximus v gene mobo and the first pcie slot is a x16 while the second on is x8. I decided to put my evga gtx 1060 6 gig edition up there but the radiator from my h80i is really close to touching it ( and I mean like 0.9 millimeters away. Is this fine and will it affect any performance/temps?
Thanks in advance!

  1. From what you're describing, the H80i is on the back of your case. Assuming you have installed it correctly (as an exhaust), there are no issues with the close proximity to the GPU. If you have it installed as an intake, however, it's probably recirculating GPU heat. That could be a significant issue for the motherboard, GPU, and any other nearby components.

It is installed as an exhaust( air is going out of the case) and my current idle temp is 34 C for gpu and 34C cpu (i5 3570k stock clocks) but should I be worried that my gpu can short circuit?

  3. The two are really only close near the mounting bracket for the GPU, so there shouldn't be any issues. If you're really concerned, just put some electrical tape on the cooler where it's closest to the GPU.
