I have a pair of Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB DDR3 modules (CMY16GX3M2A2133C11). When placed in slots A1 & B1 of my Asus Z97 Pro (Wi-Fi ac) I see only 8GB per slot.
I am using the XMP setting of the bios but no matter what I try I seem to only get 8GB per module. I have tried inserting 1 module at a time in different slots and always get 8GB.
According to everything I read the voltages, timing, etc are all correct for that memory.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my bios to read the full 16GB per module? I am worried that it is not compatible with my motherboard.

yes, I know it is a 16GB module but why do I only see 8GB in my bios? If I insert only one CMY16GX3M2A2133C11 stick into slot A1 on my motherboard I should see 16GB, right? I tired it in slot B1 also and still shows only 8GB.
One thing that did confuse me is that in the owners manual is says you can install 2GB, 4GB and 8GB modules in the slots. I thought this might mean that the board does not support 16GB modules. But in the Asus QVL list they have several 16GB listed

that is what I was afraid of.....but why would they list 16GB in their QVL in the owners manual? well I guess I was sold something that doesn't work in my system....live and learn, don't always listen to the guy behind the counter at you local PC Parts place

It doesnt list just 1 16 GB stick in the QVL. It says 2x8 GB or 4x4

Altho some of the entries in the QVL are obviously wrong like this one

KINGSTON KHX1600C9D3K6/24GX(XMP) 24GB ( 6x 4GB ) a bit hard trying to get 6 sticks in 4 slots lol

And someone cant count

G.SKILL F3-1866C10Q2-64GZM(XMP) 64GB ( 2x 8GB )

G.SKILL F3-1866C10Q2-64GZM(XMP) 64GB ( 2x 8GB)

G.SKILL F3-17000CL11Q2-64GBZLD(XMP) 64GB ( 8x 8GB)

Thanks Paul for helping me to understand how to read that list properly....I guess my mind interpreted it different but now it make sense.
I guess I will have to go out and get some 8GB sticks...I think I can continue to use them even if they only use 8GB out of the 16GB without any issues. Do you think I can fill in my other 2 slots with a couple 8GB Corsair Vengeance modules? As long as I match the specs of the other sticks?

I would return the 16 GB stick if you can.

And then buy the same ram. You may get 2 8GB sticks, for the same price as the 16 GB?

If youre not sure how much ram a slot takes, (and how much total ram, it supports ), read the specs on the site, not the QVL list

From my understanding, you have 2 8GB RAM sticks, but with them both in you are only seeing 8GB total. This may be because the recommended setup for 2 sticks on your board is to put them in A2 & B2 (It states in your manual).
