Lower performance than expected

I have a gtx 1070,i5 4690k and 2x4gb ram sticks and one 8 gig stick, and I've been getting the same ,maybe even worse performance than when i had the gtx 970,I've heard mixing ram brands could be bad, or maybe the i5 is bottlenecking the gpu, what do you guys think and if there's any tests I can run to see what the problem is?

  3. no just remove the 2x4 memory sticks
    see what happens then
I recommend you use the one stick 8gb until you can buy its exact replicate
    forget the 2x4 sticks

ok so i use msi afterburner, and i saw that the ram was at 7560, and cpu was at around 60%, while the gpu stayed around 50%, so there's gotta be something wrong, but before when i had the 2x4 gb, the gpu was at a 100% and the cpu was still around 60%, and between those is around the same performance

yes 2x4 alone and 1x8gb performance is and should be the same.
however 2x4 and 1x8gb together gives you trouble.
do 2x4 alone or 1x8 alone. I told you to use 8gb alone and buy another exact same 8gb alone because you can get 32 (8gb in 4 slots)gb memory in total eventually vs 16 (4gb in 4 slots)gb memory in total eventually.

tl;dr: never mix different memory dimms
