my pc-
samsung 24 inch freesync 1080p
ASUS dual RX480 04G
i5 3450
12gb ddr3 ram @1600mhz
430w PSU
win10

hello,i got my brand new card RX 480 and used it on a freshly installed windows 10 fully updated.
i have run Bf1 on ultra.
i get around 60 fps all time but, during heavy fight or too many soldiers fps drops to 40-45.from perfoverlay.draw graph i see during fps drop the cpu graph line spikes.both cpu and gpu are at 100%.
second GTA 5 runs around 40-50 fps on very high preset benchmark with msaa=x4...
Frames Per Second (Higher is better) Min, Max, Avg
Pass 0, 12.853857, 53.115410, 44.911186
Pass 1, 28.905008, 48.517815, 41.308617
Pass 2, 34.964497, 134.615417, 47.805767
Pass 3, 37.843494, 82.471558, 51.290630
Pass 4, 7.827425, 70.076294, 47.303200

at ultra it stays around 30~ fps..

what is wrong with my system? i saw so many benchmarks of this card .
still why are there drops in bf1 and low fps in gta 5?
p.s overwatch,just cause 3 runs well..

Probably your CPU is bottle necking the rx480 in BF1 and GTA.

i read numerous pages and threads which state i5 3450 is sufficient enough ......
why its a bottleneck? its a quad core cpu @3.5ghz (turbo)

This combo isn't bad, but the cpu is a bit old already and this model is not top of its line also.
3.5ghz turbo isn't on 100% of the time and its not on all cores, so simply your cpu is a little weak for this GPU.

They require significantly stronger CPU, so probably in current situation those two games are maxing your CPU and since it cant make it, it bottlenecks gpu.
Bf1 can be ran on ULTRA with rx 480 as long as benchmarks point out, but it cant deliver its full performance cos of CPU.
If you check around, all the benchmarks are done using either i5 4690k/i7 4770k/i7 4790k
Any older generation probably would be not enough for those games, simply they aren't that well optimized OR just the high/ultra settings require that much, which i doubt but...

Well, you would need to change MB and Ram too so i am not sure what to tell you.
Usually ill go for the latest 7700, since price difference between those two is small like 10$ i think, sadly performance difference is small too.
Can you please specify your PSU make/model ?
