Hi guys my current build is below. I always had the thought on my mind that an I5 was good enough for strict gaming. Since my last build was an i5 4760k clocked to 4.2 and never let me down. My new build has an I5 7600K clocked at 4.2 which is the standard boost. I clocked it at 4.5 to see if there would be any improvement in fps in ghost recon wildlands 4k ultra settings but none was seen. Would I benefit from swapping in say an i7-7700K? I have the money but always thought an i7 was more beneficial to those looking to run more programs or code and whatnot.

Thank you!! :)

You went from a top-line Haswell (1st-tier, http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cpu-hierarchy,4312.html), to a...top-line Kaby Lake (also 1st-tier), which is why you didn't see any gains. At 4K resolutions, the CPU is no longer going to be the limiting factor, but rather your GPU. And if you're planning on playing a brand-new game at 4K resolution on Ultra settings, the only GPU that has a prayer of giving you decent FPS is the GTX 1080Ti (as even the 1080 apparently could barely make it over 30FPS in the beta, https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/ghost-recon-wildlands-beta-benchmarks.2498551/).

You said i5 4760K I assumed you meant i7 4790K. There is no i5 4760K. And 4700 is i7 and 4600 is i5.

Update. I can run a modified ultra without blur and turf effects and a couple settings on very high at 55fps after some serious tinkering haha
