I have Acer backup disks but how can I create a Windows 7 recovery USB?

I currently have 4 DVDs that I've had kicking around for years and they've come in useful on more than one occasion. The problem is I have lots of people that want to borrow them and I need to update someone from Vista (oh Grandma, if I had known you were using Vista I would have gotten you a Windows 7 key for Christmas years ago...).

Should I rip the image off of the DVDs with all of the Acer bloatware or is there a way to rip it then get rid of the crap? Better yet is there a way to download a clean fresh ISO still? I only have OEM keys so Windows won't let me download the ISO from their website as I'm sure you're well aware.

Worst case scenario I buy a retail key. I'd rather not go that route though as I'm trying to do this all as cheap as possible! Oh and will an old OEM key work on another computer? I have no idea what make of computer she has so I'll just assume it's not Acer. I think each time I use these DVDs it tries to use one key from one computer, but maybe I'm just mistaken and these recovery DVDs don't even contain the key.

And if I get an email back from Grandma saying she's got an old Pentium this and half a gig of ram blah blah blah then I'll scrap the whole thing and find her a nice brand new (to her) $50 computer running Windows 7 or anything higher then downgrade it for her.

Thanks in advance! Also thanks for reading the ramble.

I'm just trying to figure out if there's an upgrade key that needs to be bought or if I can do a fresh install. Either way I'm sure I'll need to buy a key, but if there was a way to use an OEM key from a scrap laptop I've got one here ready to go. How do I get the ISO though?

You can't use the OEM license from a laptop, nor can you download the Win 7 ISO without a Retail license key.
And I believe MS stopped selling upgrade licenses for Win 7 some time ago.

Well I guess the best solution will be to just go and find a reputable website that still sells Windows 7 retail keys. It's hard to find reputable sites when you google it. Kinguin.net seems terrible. I've already found a lot of your posts on it haha. Any suggestions?

A lot also depends on the specs of the system in question.

Well yes I don't know them yet. I'm assuming since it's running vista currently they aren't going to be great. Man it's a pain dealing with old technology.

Well...find out before investing in a new OS.
It might be that the best solution is a $350 box from BestBuy or Walmart.
