I currently have 4 DVDs that I've had kicking around for years and they've come in useful on more than one occasion. The problem is I have lots of people that want to borrow them and I need to update someone from Vista (oh Grandma, if I had known you were using Vista I would have gotten you a Windows 7 key for Christmas years ago...).
Should I rip the image off of the DVDs with all of the Acer bloatware or is there a way to rip it then get rid of the crap? Better yet is there a way to download a clean fresh ISO still? I only have OEM keys so Windows won't let me download the ISO from their website as I'm sure you're well aware.
Worst case scenario I buy a retail key. I'd rather not go that route though as I'm trying to do this all as cheap as possible! Oh and will an old OEM key work on another computer? I have no idea what make of computer she has so I'll just assume it's not Acer. I think each time I use these DVDs it tries to use one key from one computer, but maybe I'm just mistaken and these recovery DVDs don't even contain the key.
And if I get an email back from Grandma saying she's got an old Pentium this and half a gig of ram blah blah blah then I'll scrap the whole thing and find her a nice brand new (to her) $50 computer running Windows 7 or anything higher then downgrade it for her.
Thanks in advance! Also thanks for reading the ramble.
