Which card is best for this old machine?

Solution
Your CPU is going to limit you either way, so I'd opt for the cheaper of the two (very likely the 2GB version), although if the 4GB variant is only 10% more or something, it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Compatibility issues are a possibility regardless. The 2GB or 4GB variant won't change that. A 750TI (or any 700 series card), will either 'work', or it won't.
I can't find anybody who upgraded that setup, so can't confirm whether it'll work or not.... at lest not 100%. I suspect you'll be fine on 700 series cards, later would likely be a problem.

You might struggle for BIOS support upgrading a GPU in there..... only way to know it to try though.

As for GTAV, the dual-core nature of the Phenom, it should run, but you're likely going to have to keep your settings in the 'low' range.

As for a card I'd recommend on a budget, ideally I'd suggest a GTX 1050 or 1050TI, but those are more like 100quid.

A 750TI should be in your pricerange (used)..... I'd avoid GT730's, they're useless cards.

Thanks, someone else mentioned the 750 TI and also the AMD R9 270 2GB

They said anything else could be wasted!

Might try and find a good deal on the 750 TI

Thanks!

While the R9 270 is a decent option too, it's power requirements is double the 750TI and requires a PCIe power connector from your PSU.

If your PSU is very poor, even a 750TI potentially won't work. But a 750TI will run safely on lower wattage PSUs, and slightly lower quality PSUs. An R9 270 would likely require a PSU upgrade too (unless your current PSU is good quality, which it's not likely to be)

Would the 4GB card work? Or bios issues maybe as you said?
