Will my CPU bottleneck my new GPU?

Hi All,

I just purchased an RX 470 4GB card for my old AM3 build which utilizes a AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Thuban 6-Core 3.3GHz. Will the CPU be able to keep up for 1080 gaming? It was a good sale but I'm wondering how much my CPU will bottleneck my new GPU?

Also, my motherboard has a PCI-Express 2.0 slot and not a 3.0. Will that be noticeable since the RX 470 is made for PCI-E 3.0?

At 1080p, that CPU has a very high (almost definite) chance of choking the RX 470, esp. in CPU-demanding games.

PCIe3.0 GPU plugged in a PCIe2.0 slot = slower but NOT noticeable difference.

Personally (I don't know about others), I'd look into going for an Intel build (but actual specs would entirely depend on the budget your are willing to spend) to match that GPU.

You'll do OK with an 1100t & a rx470.
I wouldn't worry about bottlenecking until you've actually tried it.
