Hi everyone!

I am currently looking to buy a new PC for gaming around 1500$-2000$ maximum. However, I am very limited when it comes to PC parts and hardware knowledge. So I'm asking for help.

Basically, I want a PC powerful enough to handle streaming/video editing while being able to play the most demanding graphic games out there at the moment.

I have come up with a build here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PzHcjc

What do you guys think about this build? Any brands/parts you would switch for something else better in your opinion?

Thanks for the help! (Of course, if you have other suggestions to save me some moneyz, feel free to share your thoughts)!

* I am not sur if it is the right forum to ask for PC build help, sorry if it is not.

I was reading through your posts and responses and just wanted to give you some peace of mind about going with Ryzen. I also stream and game at the same time. I do it all on the same PC with a Ryzen 1700x and a GTX 1080. It handles it incredibly well. I record and stream at 1080p and usually my CPU never cracks 50% usage while I'm doing it...

Ah yes, I forgot to say. I don't own a 4k monitor and don't plan to. I don't think it is worth it for now for me.

Otherwise, I do need an optical drive because some of my games are on CDs. Don't need an extremely good one though.

Well I don't own a 1440p monitor. However, the question is; is 1440p worth it?

I don't think I have seen a 1440p stream yet on Twitch too. It would be too demanding I think for Twitch.

EDIT: Yeah looks like it's not possible to stream in 1440p on Twitch. So I guess 1080p is just fine.

Six core is nice but I think i7's in general are good though. Your call.

I personally like the idea of ASUS X99-A II motherboard series.

Tower size depends - STRIX GPUs are quite long in size, some cases will block off storage drive bays or require their removal. PCPartPicker will automatically tell you if your case is incompatible.

Alright sorry. I was at work. Yeah well, to improve the quality of a stream you can change the "cpu preset". The lower it is, the better the quality but the more taxing it is for the cpu. Apparently 6 cores cpu can handle very low cpu presets. I'm still doing research though.

And yes. I still don't know what to go for a good mobo that handles gaming/streaming well. I'll check out the ASUS X99-A II.

But I was thinking about it at work. Would I be better off doing dual PCs for streaming/gaming? Would it be cheaper, better?

Otherwise, I'm gonna use adobe premium probably for video editing or something like that.

To be honest I don't plan to go heavy on the video editing. I'm mostly looking to be a twitcher than a youtuber. I just plan to mostly cut/uncut some videos, with an intro and some texts here and there so that it looks fine on youtube. No crazy effects.

As for Ryzen, without offense, I prefer to go Intel. Mostly because it is "the way to go" for streaming. And I guess I feel more secure with Intel than AMD. Just a preference I guess.

Since you said cut/uncut, you are probably using Adobe Premiere Pro CC. More cores means better performance in this case. You should get Ryzen.

And no, if you are not overclocking, no need to water cool. (Unless you wanna look cool)

Alright. I like your build here.

However, I want tot ry and save some money now. If there's a way we can lower the price, it would be awesome.

Also, is AMD Ryzen better than i7-6800k for gaming/streaming? Is 32GB RAM necessary? Can I just go with 16GB?

Oh, and If it is possible to go with reliable/good customer service parts, it would be great.

Thanks for the help. I'm looking into myself atm.

Between Ryzen and i7, it's identical in performance when streaming. So you saved $70 and got more cores at the same time.
32GB's good for preview, so I guess it's not necessary.
And yes, it's best to use 4 sticks to increase communication speeds for RAM.

Yes, all the parts in my list is known to be reliable. I won't pick them otherwise. To save money...

Good.

There's no good ASUS mobo though for the AMD Ryzen CPU. Sos I changed it for Asus PRIME in this build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yCJJGf

As you can see, I also change other parts. Trying to find a good balance between my build + yours.

Now I'm wondering which graphic card I'd go. Either a 1080 et 1070. Considering I can only stream at 1080p and don't own any 4k monitor, wouldn't it be wiser just to go for the 1070 SC ?

Okay so I'm back, xD.

I've been doing a lot of research on my build and came up with this: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/htzRhq

I decided to go for a b350 mobo considering I'm not gonna SLI and it supports 3200 RAM. Also, I would like to switch the CPU cooler to the Evo 212, but I don't know if it supports AM4. Anyone maybe knows? It would be wiser for me to go for an air cooler considering I'm not planning to overclock. If the EVO 212 doesn't support AM4, I guess I'll go for a corsair h100i. Or something similar to an EVO 212 that does support AM4 would be good too.

I'll also start out with 8GB RAM and later add 2 more 8GB RAM. But I'm sticking with DDR4-3200 memory.

Decided to go for a GTX 1070. A Gtx 1080 is way overkill for 1080p and I can only stream at 1080p on Twitch.

So here's my 2 issues now. First, need a good cpu cooler similar to EVO 212 or I need "confirmation" that EVO 212 does support AM4. And then, I need a case. I had a mind the Mastercooler 5 pro. But sadly this GTX 1070 is apparently too big to fit in that case so I have to change. A good air cooling case between 50-100$ would be great.

Thanks for the help.

A) CRYORIG H7, H5 Ultimate/Universal, are all under $50. While they don't support AM4 out of the box at the moment, it seems CRYORIG is offering free AM4 upgrade kits that you'll just need to wait to be delivered.

B) Corsair 300R isn't as much to look at as other cases but has a fresh front air intake perfect for your GPU.

Hope this helps

Yeah so the h100i does not support AM4 yet. But the h110i does. Its 30 bucks more but atleast it will work.

Anyway. Got this build now https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RCdYtJ

Decided to go for the Fractal Design Define 5. Its highly customizable and looks decent while not too costly.

I'm still looking for an air cooler instead of a liquid cooler though. Not many supports AM4 yet :( .
