My Pc started having problems when i tried playing a 4k video on 4k TV. It froze and from then on when i go turn on the PC it would restart several times before booting up.

The chip i7 4790k was not 4k capable so i must have caused something. Listed below is the whole affair and what I have tried.

The PC also started freezing when under load (video editing, playing games etc). So i cleansed everything thinking it was dirt built up. I also tried updating the bios. But once i did so I couldn't get into Windows anymore. It acted like the raid was not loading. In the middle of this i tried a new Power Supply and it didn't make a difference. I than thought maybe the motherboard was bad so i sent in to be repaired. I ended it putting my old Power supply back into the pc after testing it (paper clip) After the motherboard was returned it didn't have as many issues with restart (but as it goes on it started happening more again). But the PC wouldn't load into windows still.

So i removed my video card (GTX 1080) and was able to boot into windows. So I tried a new power supply thinking that it might have been a failing power supply causing my motherboard to fail but once again the new Power supply didn't make a difference. So I removed the video card again and got into windows. in the process of updating windows and backing up files the PC froze. It appeared to have corrupted the update. So I than went into Windows 10 safe mode and fixed the repair but now it freezes at the start up of windows.

So i don't know whats wrong. Is it a failing CPU or a short somewhere?
I also tried replacing the RAM as well.

My PC is

i7 4790k
motherboard GA Z97x-sli
16gb DDR3 1866MHZ
Raid 0 4xSSD 256GB drives
corsair h80i v2 liquid cooler
Windows 10
AZZA 1000 watt power supply (original) also tried a 750 corsair and 850 watt EVGA
Video Card Asus GTX 1080

Have you tried to reformat your harddisk and reinstall windows? Maybe it's not an hardware issue, but an software issue...

Run memtest, the dos version not windows based version, I know you say you've tried different ram, but this will also test CPU cache and memory controller, then you know if its the chip or ram, freezes in my experience normally point to ram, test 1 stick at a time.

I will have to try that but would ram cause the computer to restart multiple times right after the PC started as if the power was failing.

very possibly, faulty ram or chip would lead to any kind of crash or freeze.

Changed the hard drive was able to install and get into windows. But power still restarts and can't ad video card because it will freeze.

My current theory is that either my old power supply or something to do with the sata ports (ports or cords or drives) caused a short which makes the motherboard to become unstable.

I am going to see if i can send the motherboard back into be repaired (warranty) and keep the new power supply and replace the cables.

I will update this once i get the motherboard back and test.

Hopefully I then find out whats wrong and update the post. If someone has any ideas please post.
The more ideas the better (this has been a wild ride and the sooner it ends the better lol).
