High CPU usage during gaming.

Hello, I've recently been playing Archeage and I noticed that my cpu uses almost 80% of its max allowance. Any way to reduce this or maybe a suggestion as to what i can upgrade to reduce the usage and begin to stream this game?

not sure what your concern is - are you planning on or hoping to render video files while gaming?

It's all a factor of the game's software - i render a lot of video files, one program i use, Handbrake, on a computer with an i7-4790 cpu (4 cores, boosted to 4.0) runs at 98-100% usage or load. On another computer with an i7-5960X cpu (eight cores, also clocked to 4.0), Handbrake runs that cpu at 92-97% load.

Another program i use for rendering, runs either cpu at 32-38% load, whether the 4 core or 8 core cpu

My issue is when I actually start streaming (using OBS) my cpu usage hits max 100% and I begin to notice dramatic fps loss in more intensive areas of the game and also stuttering. I play the game on High settings DX9 and stream at 30fps at my native resolution.

I5s don't have the horsepower to puch thru gaming and streaming simultaneously. You'll have to cut corners by using your GPU's hardware acceleration to do the streaming part instead.

The only thing that can reduce CPU usage when streaming is to rely on the GPU for rendering the video if that doesn't work then you will need to get a cpu that has more cores to handle the rendering of the streaming video such as AMD's 8 core Ryzen 7 chips.

Can I ask what the best way to go about allocating the streaming resources needed to the gpu?

You using OBS or Xplit?

If OBS, go to your output settings then swap the encoder from x264 to NVEC (if using a Nvidia card).

Under advanced encoder options the only option is x264. However there is a line x264 options that allows you too type commands in. Is this what you are referring too?
