Hello,

As of late I've been using a pair of Razer hammerhead earbuds and i'm having a bit of a problem with the in-line microphone. I have the earbuds routed through a microphone/audio splitter that enters my computer through the audio in and out ports on my AMD motherboard. Everything seems to work fine until I join a voice chat server. Everyone i'm speaking with can hear me fine, but they can also hear themselves. I'm using the splitter that came with the earbuds so that shouldn't be the issue. The microphone is also far enough away from the actual earbuds that it couldn't be the problem either. Has anyone had an issue like this? Anyone know how to resolve it?

Thanks in advance

Did voice chat originally work okay or is this a new set up where you have just started using voice chat?

If everything was working and you did not make any configuration changes or know of any software update then I would suspect that the splitter or some other physical component has failed or been damaged.

Any lose plugs, connections....

Main suspect is that your earbud's electrical circuit is feeding back to your microphone. Not a matter of the sound waves coming out of the earbuds being "heard" by the microphone.

Start by right clickling the small speaker icon in the lower left screen corner. Go into Recording devices and Playback devices.

There are multiple tabs and properties that can be configured.

Look at your default...

Start by right clickling the small speaker icon in the lower left screen corner. Go into Recording devices and Playback devices.

There are multiple tabs and properties that can be configured.

Look at your default devices for recording and playback see if they are configured as expected with respect to the port(s) being used and end user options associated with the devices drivers and any associated software.

Explore the settings, see what you can find. Make changes as warranted but only change one thing at a time. Make notes so you can undo a change if necessary.

Drill down as far as you can go and look at the settings via tabs and properties.

Plus if this is a new setup you need to look at the physical connections being used. The plugs (and ports) use TS, TRS, TRRS connections. (T = tip, R = ring, and S = sleeve).

It is very important that the connections match with the recording and playback devices.

Google "TS, TRS. TRRS, images"

You should find a variety of explanations, diagrams, photographs showing the differences. The splitter you received may be intended for the most simple of uses. Plus it may be made with low end components and not working correctly even if it is the correct design for its present use.
