what in gods name is wrong with my 1080 SC?

Here's what I have:

EVGA GTX 1080 SC running at stock
Intel 6800K, running at stock (have checked power options to make sure it's at high performance)
64 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
ASUS X99-A II MOBO
Game is on a 500 GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD with not much else on it.

Running the new Mass Effect Andromeda on the brand new NVIDIA Game Ready drivers from 3/19 -- Running at ultrawide 3440x1440 with the recommended / optimized settings (from GeForce Experience) for my system.

I get about 15-30 FPS. Even if I lower everything to medium it doesn't do a lot better. There are videos of others getting much better results with the same hardware, or even worse.

Here's a capture of mine. Like I said, about 20 something FPS most of the time, can get as low as 12-15 fps. I don't get it.

I agree with maxalge.

Have you changed any settings such as the fan curve?

Which case do you have and how many fans and how are the fans installed? I have 6 fans currently. Two front intake. 1 rear exhaust. 1 top exhaust. 2 on my 212 EVO.

I'd call 1 (888) 880-3842 and see what EVGA has to say about it. Because you just purchased it I think they may suggest returning/exchanging it with the retailer you purchased it from. If you were outside of their return/exchange windows EVGA would most likely start RMA procedures after they do some troubleshooting.

Right-click your desktop and open Nvidia Control Panel. Click on help and then click on DEBUG MODE. That removes any OC's and changes applied by EVGA.

Trying debug mode will be useless. It's used to prove instability issues. In your case it will only prove that OC's create heat which is obvious.

On a side note, you didn't include your CPU temperature in MSI's OSD.

Is there anything blocking the 1080's intake or exhaust areas?

Yeah check your fan control for your card? Maybe you have switched off the automatic fan profile in precision or afterburner?

Its clearly overheating.
