Newegg GTX 970 vs 1080 prices?

So I have a GTX 970, from GIGABYTE, and many of the listings on Newegg are very pricey for a new one (some of them hitting $800 USD!), and the GTX 1080 seems to be comparatively worthless, only dwindling around $500-600... Obviously, I'm not getting $800, since mine is about a year old. And obviously the 1080 is better in almost every way. However, is there a way I could sell my 970 for around $200 off, and trade it in for one of their GTX 1080s, only putting in a small amount of money?

Retail prices of products that have been out of production for a while tend to go wonky and get really high. It doesn't mean anyone is buying them at those prices, if you want to know how much you might get go on Ebay or a local used buy-and-sell site and see what they're going for.

I was lucky to sell my GTX 980 on offer up for $200 and buy a used gigabyte GTX 180 for $400. I seen the gtx 970 going for $160 around selling apps. So sell now and hope to sell it but the gtx 1080 is a steal if you find it around $400-$450.
