I'm trying to upgrade to Windows 7 on an old Dell Dimension 2300 running XP. I can't boot from USB (not an option in BIOS) or DVD (only CDROM). Im pretty new to this and this is my first attempt at something like this, is there still a way I can install a different OS with these restrictions?

Any pointers or ideas would be appreciated, thanks!

yeah, i made a mistake..thought your pc was 2400..you could try replace the cd-rom eith a dvd and boot from there..of course you have to have a IDE DVD-Rom 1st.

Thanks for the reply, yeah I poked around in the BIOS and couldn't find a way to add USB as an option. I think that's the route I'll go, installing a DVD-ROM drive. Just thinking ahead....once I install the DVD-ROM drive it will appear as a boot option then?

Thanks again
