Graphics card upgrade

So I recently just bought a pc from a friend and it plays decent games like civ 5 and ksp but when I try to play say rainbow 6 seige I have to turn the graphics low and my computer still is loud I want to upgrade my specs but I'm new to pc gaming and don't know if purchasing a new graphics card will require me to upgrade other things what should I do? CPU:Intel Core i5-3450 GPU: Nvidia GTX 480 and i think 6 GB of ram

Yes, you would definitely benefit from a GPU upgrade. That GTX 480 (8th-tier) isn't even as good as my old R9 270.

The question is what your PSU can handle. I would hope it would be decent quality, since it was handling the GTX 480 (same TDP as the new GTX 1080 Ti), but you may just want to check the model/wattage just in case.

In any case, you're probably playing at 1080p resolutions or near there. If you're below 1080p, you probably want to get a GTX 1050, but I would still recommend getting a GTX 1060 or RX 470/480; they're only a little more expensive, but much more powerful, & will use less power than your current GPU.
