Here's my current specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7 extreme 975
Cooler: Cooler Master V8 69.7 CFM Rifle Bearing CPU Cooler
motherboard: ASUSTek P6T WS PRO
GPU: NVIDIA Quadro FX1800
Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 Memory + OCZ Gold 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Powersupply: Corsair Builder 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

Backstory, this was my brother's computer when he got married he gave it to me, he was really teck savvy i'm not that savvy tbh but i know some stuff here and there i did a small upgrade which was the rams and powersupply and a medium-large case and i want to upgrade it even more and i can't deiced whether i should get a new cpu and motherboard and or mine 'll do just fine and i should get just a new gpu and will it be compatible with my motherboard or not. I'm kinda lost here, so please help

P.S: I'm on a short budget :350$

+1 with Kjnkid's advice, check out PCPartPicker. Your CPU, Motherboard and RAM are quite old and a new socket upgrade would be nice but a new graphics card would be the best start. Your budget would easily allow a nice GTX 1060 6GB/RX 480 8GB which are very capable cards and can run modern games at 1080p High/Ultra in most cases but your CPU might hold them back a bit in most instances. Consider investing more later in the year into the rest as the new AMD Ryzen 5 CPUs come out soon and that should add good competition and variety to the CPU market, an ideal time to upgrade. Hope this helps :)

*Edit* No point upgrading his Motherboard it's an outdated and very old socket. Finding one would be hard enough and be pretty pointless...

If i were in your shoes, id replace the GPU and the Mother Board. Both are very outdated. You could use a better CPU but The other 2 are way more important as of right now. There are some nice cards around your budget out there. For instance an MSI 1060 is around $250. Spend the other $100 and a mother board and you should be fine.

hi, thanks for replying.
how do you chose a good motherboard that works well with your cpu and gpu without any problems knowing that one is really old and one is new won't it do some conflict or something?

I always use PCparkpicker it's a site that let's you create your own build and it will let you know if there is any conflicts and it also shows you the prices of items and where you can buy them. It's a very nice tool.
