Hi all, I am building identical computers for me and my 15 year old son (except my case is much more conservative) and we are having no luck having his computer recognize his card. Here are basic specs:
i5 7500 Kaby Lake
Gigabyte Z270X-UD3 Motherboard
Gigabyte Geforce Gtx 1060 OC
EVGA NEX 650G power supply
Windows 10 pro 64

Everything boots up fine, but it won't recognize the video card. We are using a DVI connector. Any help is appreciated.

Where is the GPU not detected? BIOS or Windows? Are you connected to the GPU itself or to the motherboard DVI connections?

If you're connected to the GPU definitively, have connected the appropriate power connectors.......... have you installed the driver from nVidia's website?

Thanks for the fast response. I am connected to the GPU. Bios shows the pcie as the primary graphics, but I'm not sure if that means it recognized it. Windows will not recognize the card. Nvidia Geforce experience won't load drivers as the card is not recognized.

So you able to get into windows but it doesn't recognize the card in Device Manager? if so, you need to install the driver, just right click it and select update driver > search online.... or go to Gigabyte and download driver from there, make sure you download the correct windows version 32bit or 64bit.

Haha, yes I have it plugged into the actual graphics card, though if you really knew me, you would know that is a good question to ask! So when I go into Windows Display Adapter Properties, it shows Microsoft Basic Driver, then it lists Chip type, Bac type, Adaptor string, and Bios info as all <unavailable> and then below it shows Total available graphics memory as 4072mb.

I have tried to install the driver from the disc provided and it installed Geforce experience. It then tried to update driver but told me it could not continue with this version of windows.

And that fixed it! I had bought the OEM Windows from Newegg and apparently it needed a whole lot of updating. All set up and works like a dream now. And most importantly, I have a very happy 15 year old. Which is excellent leverage for homework and chores ;) th3p00r, please accept the good karma I am sending your way, cheers, Tony
