Can anybody help me plzz. I got alienware x51 r2 with 16gb ram, i5-4440, gtx660. I tried to upgrade my cpu to a i7-4790k since it was just laying around here. It boots but just hangs on windows 7 splash screen. I think i got bios updated. I looked around web some ppl say they got it running in theres but i messaged them an they never return messages lol. I know here i will get a quick response. Can anybody help me or get it to work. Thanks for anyhelp.

I would try to update the BIOS (again). Also, once you get the BIOS updated and the new CPU installed, go into the BIOS and load the optimal settings. If that doesn't do it, I'm not sure what else to try.

i would set the BIOS to defaults first before updating the BIOS again. also, check to see if that CPU was every an option for that alienware model
