SPECS:
-Q6600 (normally overclocked but flashed bios) 2.4ghz [CPU]
-asus p5n-e sli [MOBO]
-4x 2GB [ram]
-HIPER Type M 880W [PSU]
-GTX 650 [OLD GPU]
-R9 270X [NEW GPU]

When i install the new R9 270X with tested 6pin connectors (tested with old GTX 650) i get the beep code (one long - three short) relating to GPU, i re-seat the 270X and re-seat the ram and still experience this issue.

Solution

Check for a newer BIOS for your motherboard. Try in another PCIe slot on the motherboard. Could be the power supply also, that brand is not very good http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&file=print&reid=85 May not be the issue, but if you have a card that works in another system fine, not in yours, it's either your motherboard or your power supply as pretty much the only things that can cause issues.

(second hand) Yes it has also been pushed to its limits and works fine
