Would I need a low profile graphics card for an optiplex 790? ( http://clascsg.uconn.edu/download/specs/O790.pdf ) I am rather new to pc upgrading (idk what to call it) but I am pretty sure I'm going to buy the GeForce GT 710m 2 GB low profile but I am up for recommendations within that price range. I know it's not the best but it's much better compared to my current integrated intel hd 2000
Thanks in advance!

GT710 likely won't be much faster than the onboard graphics the computer came with. Those are very low end cards suitable for adding monitors to a computer or for machines without integrated graphics.

Minimum that is worth buying is a GT730, barely or r5-230.

You should increase your budget to around $75 and hit up the used market on ebay for something like a GTX750ti or GTX750, or the mentioned r7-240. Or a part swap like the classifieds here on Tom's or reddit.com/r/hardwareswap

In that price range ($45-50) I cannot find anything better that's new than what you're thinking. There's open-box and refurbs in that price range that are higher tier (like the r7 240) but your safe bet is going forward with that GT 710 2GB.

Note: I noticed you listed a GT 710m when m series is typically for laptops. Make sure you don't accidentally buy a laptop GPU for a desktop!

Ah oops I meant to type the MSI 710, also, thanks for the response; I'm a massive noob when it comes to computers so I appreciate the conformation :)
