Trying to be as brief as possible:
Fairly new computer (maybe 4 years old) WXP Pro, HPLJ4+.
We had a paper jam in the printer at work. I cleared the paper and am positive that there was no paper remaining, since the sheet came
out whole with no pieces missing. Nothing has printed since, other than two test pages later on; one from the computer and the other
from the printer menu. They both looked perfect, so it does feed paper and will print. I get no error messages, no nothing other than silence and accumulation of documents in the print buffer, which I delete right away after trying to print. This printer has pnly printed 9640 pages during its lifespan, so I doubt wear is the problem.
I brought a HPLJ5+ from home and plugged it in, No change. Bought an almost new HPLJ4 (only a few hundred pages printed) from eBay.
No change. The printers print fine from my laptop at home.
We were using a parallel (at printer) to USB (at computer) cable. Changed it, still the same. Bought a parallel card and installed it with its
driver and full parallel cable. No change.
The computer works perfectly other than this. M$ has decided that there is no direct upgrade path to W7, and our business database
program is not easily transferrable to another OS or computer. Their tech charges run into the 4 digit range for this, so if we can avoid
this solution, there will be smiles all around.
Y'all know of a fix other than a trip to the dump with this one and emptying the bank account on a new computer and tech support?
Thanks in advance.
