I want to put a 750 ti in my optiplex 7010 DT, i wanted to know if it was compatible?
I know it wont fit in the optiplex case so i will have to buy a different case, and i also know that the PSU has to be at least 300w as it's the minimum requirement for the 750 ti.
I want to know if I changed the case and the PSU, would the motherboard fit and also, would the 750 ti fit in the PCI slots provided by the motherboard already.
I dont know what socket the motherboard is e.g. 1151, 1155 etc and i also dont know if it is ATX or Micro-ATX etc

There's a program called Speccy, it's free and a quick download. It'll tell you all about your computer.

The main thing to be aware of is some of these pre-built computers use proprietary designs. As long as this computer's motherboard is standard, it'll fit in a standard case. The same with the power supply, as long as it's a standard type it can be replaced easily. The 750 Ti should have no trouble being used in this computer. The info I found says this is an Ivy Bridge computer with an LGA1155 socket. Speccy will show if this is true or not.

The SFF may be lower due to its compact size. I do know all the MT/DT do run the full 75 watts. I don't deal with the SFF's as often so not sure on the max wattage on those

Hi drtweak,

I was happy because you seemed pretty sure the DELL Optiplex 7010 MT/DT can run a 75W consuming GPU on PCIe port but according to DELL specs only the MT can do it (http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/optix/en/optiplex_7010_technical_guidebook.pdf).

Having the DT version, I'm now wondering whether I can run the GTX 1050 ti LP on my machine or not. I just don't want my mobo to die. I'll upgrade the PSU to 350W anyway to install a better GPU but I would like to find the best one I can get for that PSU power and my mobo limitation (50W according to DELL specs).

I don't know if changing the stock PSU to 350W would give more power to the PCIe neither, it would probably solve the problem if it's the case.

Thanks for your help guys.

The PCIe wattage is limited via the motherboard not the PSU but I have put in 65-75 watt GPU's in here without issue.

Hi drtweak,

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'll try the GTX 1050ti LP on my Optiplex then.

About the PSU, I guess it's advised to have at least 300W for this GPU to run.
Did you upgrade the OEM one?
Thanks.
