I have a Nvidia geforce 970.

I'm wondering what is the multiplayer gaming scene like on linux with games in the rts and robot/tank type first person games genre thesedays?

I like an rts game with co-operative vs the computer modes and I like to play mechwarrior although it's not perfect. Are there similar games on linux thesedays?

What are some of the popular multiplayer games on linux?

I think Steam and the Stats section might be able to help you with the answer. There you will find games that have Linux support and the stats [although limited] can help you gauge the player base.
