Hi there,

I decided to create a forum account in an attempt to receive some kind of assistance with a problem that has been persisting on my system ever since I factory wiped my hard-drive.

In short, some games I play are fixed on low as-hell resolutions. I've noticed that it's mainly newer games that I face this problem with, such as Dying Light or GTA V. However some modern games, like the most recent MGS, run on my native resolution with no quarrels.

I run my PC on a 22" TV, however this isn't the reason for my games messing up because prior to me formatting my hard-drive, every game worked absolutely fine.

Here's a little information on my machine, if that'd be of any use:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz

No, I couldn't back-up my files sadly. I got a new motherboard + CPU recently, and I had to fully wipe my HDD. I'm on Windows 10, however I was running on Windows 7 prior to the wipe.

I could put these games in the correct resolution when I was running on Windows 7/before the wipe, so I'm pretty confused as to what's happened.

I'm using a 2TB HDD for everything. 550W PSU.

Do you know the brand and type of the 2TB HDD?
If it's old, it might be time to get a new HDD. If you have the money, I would go for an SSD for boot, and a HDD for your games.
What's your mobo by the way? Is that new CPU the one you mentioned in your original post?

I believe it's a SeaGate Baracuda.

And hmm, alright. If you think this could be the source of my problem then I'll definitely look into attaining an SSD. I know the motherboard I own is an ASUS model, however I'm unsure of the exact name and specifications. It's the motherboard that came with my CPU when I ordered it on Amazon. I can scour through my old orders if needed to determine the exact details of the motherboard if needed. Finally, yes, the processor in my original post is the new CPU that I bought.

Okay.

Do you know how old your HDD is?
