I have 2 identical GTX970 G1 Gaming from Gigabyte, and am using an ASRock Z97 Extreme4 motherboard.

However, when I tried to enable SLI in the Nvidia control panel, i am unable to and it simply states "To use maximum 3D performance, connect the SLI-ready graphics cards with an SLI connector" although i have already connected the SLI bridge.

I have tried switching the position of the cards, position of the SLI bridge and orientation of the SLI bridge to no avail. I am using the latest Nvidia Drivers 378.92, and both cards are not overclocked.

Both cards are detected in device manager and gpuz so I am very confused and frustrated about this issue.

Starting around the 7xx or 9xx series cards NVIDIA put 2 connectors for SLI. It might be possible you've accidentally connected to the 2nd one and it won't initialize unless the 1st one is connected. The 1st one is the one closest to the ports.

Its just a thought, I've never tried only connecting the 2nd one by itself so I'm not sure if that's whats going on.

Technically only one needs to be connected but having both in use can 'potentially' help with micro stutters.
